In the competitive world of fashion Nic is known for designing strong and edgy yet ultra-feminine clothes for the Sub-Couture label (see www.sub-couture.com), a challenging job which he somehow succeeds in combining with managing the hotly-tipped Irish indie rock band, Black Soul Strangers, who credit him as the person who has helped them the most to get where they are today.
As well as shoehorning what for most of us would be two full-time jobs into one man's working week, Nic is somehow finding the time to raise money for Against Breast Cancer and help us with his knowledge and expertise. Not only has he chosen to publicise the charity and give us the proceeds from his band's most recent gig in London's Camden he is also giving freely of his fashion experience to help organise the glamorous fundraising fashion show being generously hosted by our patron, Dwina Murphy-Gibb, at her home this September.
These are exciting times for Nic and Black Soul Strangers who have already gathered an impressive London following, including Radio One's Jo Whiley and popular media presenter Fearne Cotton. The release of the band's debut album, Animate, on July 5th will see the band go global. Early on-line previews are enthusiastic to ecstastic, eliciting plaudits: 'as infectious and addictive as a cold beer on a warm day'; 'grabs your attention and threatens to kick your head in if you don't shower it in the love and admiration it deserves'; 'a mesmerising collection of songs'; 'really exciting, possibly the best album I've heard in a while'; 'a rock album that knows when to whisper, and may mark a welcome fork in the road of British music'.
As respected weekly music magazine, New Musical Express (NME) so rightly put it, Black Soul Strangers are "a band who actually look and sound successful before their time... Strangers, eh? Not for much longer"
Thank you Nic and Black Soul Strangers for your support. We're sure the album will be the huge success everyone predicts when it's released in July, but please don't forget us when you are famous!
