When our founders, Dr Anthony Leathem together with his wife Pat decided to set up against Breast Cancer in 1993 they were responding to the urgent need to improve survival from secondary spread, the main cause of breast cancer related deaths.
Patricia and Anthony are a continuing source of inspiration and advice to the research teams.

Anthony Leathem MD
Anthony founded the charity with his wife Patricia in 1993 to raise funds to support his research into the secondary spread of breast cancer. Anthony began his medical career in 1968, working initially as a doctor in pathology before branching out into medical research.
Pat gave up a promising career in nursing to take on the role of fundraising when Anthony began his breast cancer research in 1993. Voted Oxordshire’s Woman of the Year in 1996, Pat remains a tireless fundraiser and is an inspiration to many of our supporters.
