Fantastic Against Breast Cancer fundraiser Ian completed the Sir Chris Hoy Tour De 4 charity bike in early September.
The event started and finished at the Glasgow Velodrome on 7th September 2025, named after cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy, who, along with many other well-known names, joined the ride.
Training for the charity bike ride event was a family affair. Ian spent several weeks preparing alongside his son, Martin, and best friend, Owen.
Ian said, “The day itself was absolutely brilliant. Despite a few heavy showers along the route, the atmosphere was incredible. The support from the public was nothing short of inspiring. People turned out in every town we cycled through, cheering us on and handing out biscuits and sweets to keep us going.
“All the training, the early mornings, and the effort were worth it. The sense of achievement at the finish line was unforgettable, and sharing that moment with Martin, Owen and my good friend Sink made it even more special.”
Crossing the finish line!
This ride was also a deeply personal one. Ian’s mother sadly passed away from breast cancer, and he has many family members and friends who have both suffered from and survived the disease.
“Supporting Against Breast Cancer through this event is my way of honouring them and helping others who are still fighting.”
Ian is already looking forward to taking part in the Tour de 4 again next year and is hopeful of raising even more awareness and funds for this vital cause.
Against Breast Cancer want to thank Ian for his support, achievement and fundraising.
