On 7th September 2025, a passionate team of runners representing Against Breast Cancer took to the streets of London for the Big Half. Their efforts raised more than £7,000 to support the charity’s vital research into secondary spread breast cancer.
The team, comprising supporters, survivors, and first-time runners, joined thousands of participants on the 13.1-mile route, which winds from Tower Bridge to the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich. Despite the unseasonably warm weather, spirits were high, and the pink-clad team stood out for their energy and determination.
Maddy Squires shared:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the Big Half event and, despite the heat, crossed the finish line with a smile on my face knowing I’d done it for such a wonderful cause.”
The funds raised go directly toward Against Breast Cancer’s pioneering research into secondary breast cancer, the main cause of breast cancer-related deaths. The charity’s work focuses on improving early detection, developing new treatments, and finding ways to prevent recurrence, with the goal of increasing survival after diagnosis.
Richard Martin, Head of Fundraising at Against Breast Cancer, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our Big Half team. Every mile they ran and every pound they raised brings us closer to a future free from breast cancer. Their dedication and fundraising efforts are truly inspiring, and we’re so grateful for their support. It is great to see our presence at such a prestigious event increasing”
