Despite living with a terminal breast cancer diagnosis, Jess went above and beyond to make her fundraising event a huge success, raising an incredible £1,300 for Against Breast Cancer.
Jess organised a fun-filled day featuring a cake sale, a pink-themed tombola, a raffle, and a silent auction with prizes generously donated by local businesses. The event was a true community effort. Jess received support from her son Noah, her mum, sister Johanna, and best friend Emma.
Speaking about her motivation, Jess said: “I wanted to organise a fundraiser for ABC as I know the charity directly supports research into secondary metastatic breast cancer, which is my diagnosis. Having visited research laboratories at Southampton University with the charity, I understand first-hand how monies raised can be used in research — £20 for a lab coat, £50 for a measuring pipette, and £100,000 for an analysing machine.”

“I have a wonderful group of friends who are supporting me through the dark days of a terminal diagnosis. I knew they would come out in full force to help run the event,” Jess added. “Donations of cakes and biscuits started arriving and filled two cars! We approached local businesses we are patrons of for donations of prizes for a silent auction. This, along with a pink-themed tombola and raffle, helped raise over £1,000 for ABC!”
We would like to say a huge thank you to Jess, her family and friends for organising the event. Moreover, thanks to everyone who attended for giving so generously and raising such a fantastic amount for our vital research.
