The Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge is an end-of-season Ultra Challenge in the ‘Garden of England’. A basecamp near Maidstone, join up to 2,000 adventurers and you can take it on at your pace as a walk, jog, or run – and fundraise for Against Breast Cancer’s groundbreaking research into secondary spread breast cancer!
Experience an unforgettable 50 km challenge on this scenic looped route through the heart of Kent. The trail begins at the showground and heads anticlockwise along the famous North Downs Way. First, you will make your way towards Blue Bell Hill, enjoying wide views across the countryside. Then, the route follows the beautiful River Medway, guiding you toward the halfway point at Mote Park. Here, you can pause for a well‑earned picnic and recharge before continuing.
After your break, the journey continues along the peaceful Len Valley Walk. This section leads you directly to the majestic Leeds Castle, one of Kent’s most iconic landmarks. From there, the trail reconnects with the North Downs Way, taking you back to the showground for a spectacular finish. With varied terrain, historic landmarks, and stunning landscapes, this route offers a memorable experience from start to end.
You can sign up as an individual or take on the challenge as part of a team. Throughout the event, you will receive full support, including route signage, rest stops, medical assistance, and plenty of food and drink. In addition, optional camping and transfer services make the event even more accessible. Every participant will earn a special medal, an event T‑shirt, and a celebration at the finish line.
If 50 km feels too much, there are also 25 km and 10 km options. Therefore, everyone—from seasoned hikers to first‑time challengers—can take part. No matter which distance you choose, you’ll enjoy an inspiring atmosphere, stunning views, and a rewarding sense of achievement.
You can also raise funds for Against Breast Cancer by taking part in one of the many other Ultra Challenge events that are available.
