Not everyone finds it easy to get to their old clothes to a local charity shop
Since 2011 Against Breast Cancer has partnered with Recycling Clothes Company to raise vital funds for breast cancer research. In addition to the £90 (including VAT) donation we receive for each tonne collected, we are reducing the amount of clothes unnecessarily going into landfill which is currently estimated to be a staggering 235 million items a year in the UK.
Thank you for donating your old Clothes to support our research, the funds generated through these collections are playing a critical role in the development of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of breast cancer.Professor Max Crispin, Research Team Leader
How it works
If you receive a plastic bag like the one pictured through your letterbox you can be assured that you are helping to support our dedicated research to stop secondary breast cancer from claiming lives.
All you need to do is put the clothing you no longer require into the sack contained within the pack and leave it outside on your doorstep. There’s no need for you to do anything else, teams working for Recycling Clothes Company will collect the bags (usually 2-3 days after delivery).
If you do not wish to participate, please help us to avoid unnecessary waste by putting out the unopened bag for collection.
We also provide a helpline number on the front of the bag where you can leave a message with any questions or special request you may have about the scheme.
What we can recycle
Although clothes are by far the most popular item we recycle, we are striving to increase the different types of items we can accept. Currently you can fill the sacks with ladies, gents and childrens clothing, bed linen, paired shoes, handbags, perfumes, CD’s, video games, DVD’s, phones or event toys
What we cannot recycle
Unfortunately we are unable to recycle bric-a-brac, books or duvets and we are currently working with our suppliers to minimise the environmental impact created by our clothing collection bags
Miss your collection?
Our new Anytime Clothing Collections scheme take the stress out of recycling the clothes your family has outgrown or no longer wants.
Both free and simple to use, Anytime Clothing Collections put you in control by allowing you to choose when you receive your collection bags, and when you want to have them collected. We’ll then turn your quality old clothes into funds supporting our breast cancer research. All at a time to suit you.Learn more
