Volunteer
Against Breast Cancer was started by a single volunteer and even though we’ve grown since then, we still rely on the marvellous men and wonderful women who generously give us their time, support and commitment. We couldn’t run the charity without them. If you’re retired, in education, between jobs or willing to give up an hour or two of precious spare time to volunteer for charity, we’d love to hear from you.
Why we need volunteers
Every year volunteers save us hours, days and weeks of time which in turn saves us thousands of pounds in staff costs. Without our volunteers we simply wouldn’t have the time or the manpower to arrange and support the many activities that raise vital funds for our pioneering research into the secondary spread of breast cancer.
Action groups
Join, or set up, a local fundraising group in your community. You can help organise or take part in an event while making friends with like-minded people along the way. Give as much or as little time as you’re able whether organising a coffee morning or helping with one of our major fundraisers like the Splash of Pink days during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Lend us your skills
We welcome help in our Abingdon office, so if you live locally let us know. And, if you have a special skill that’s going to waste, even better!
My mother died of breast cancer when she was 46. I can’t always afford to give money in the current economic climate, but I can make a contribution in this way.

Volunteers get a lot out of volunteering
You can meet new people, get more involved with your community, build up confidence or develop your skills and experience. The last is especially useful if you’re starting your career or re-entering the job market. At the same time as having fun, volunteers feel proud that they play a vital role in supporting our lifesaving research.
