Berlin Marathon 2025 was an unforgettable experience for our runners representing Against Breast Cancer. One of the world’s seven Abbott World Marathon Majors, Berlin is renowned for its fast course, electric atmosphere, and global prestige. Over 45,000 runners from more than 150 countries took to the streets this year, making it one of the biggest running events in the world.
But 2025 also brought unusually tough conditions. With temperatures soaring to 27°C and a late morning start, the race became a real test of resilience, determination, and heart. Despite the challenges, our runners crossed the finish line carrying something bigger than themselves, their commitment to raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Collectively, they raised over £28,500 – an amazing achievement.
Running for Love
After a solid 12 weeks of training, Jamie (pictured above) suffered an injury just two weeks before Berlin. Despite the setback, he refused to back out. “Berlin was a painful run, but one I would never skip simply because my sister cannot. Pain is temporary; the love for my sister is forever.”
Making a Real Difference
Kit
For Kit, the day began with excitement and pride. But after just 5k, he pulled his calf, forcing him to battle through the rest of the course in pain.
“My time took a big hit, but nothing could take away from the atmosphere and the privilege of being there.
I’m extremely proud to have run in support of Against Breast Cancer and, more importantly, to raise money for a cause that I know will go on to make a real difference.”
Remembering Why I Was Running
Callum
Callum described Berlin as one of the toughest races he’s ever faced.
“There were moments when the pain was overwhelming, but what helped me push through was remembering why I was running.
“I’m so proud I was able to raise money for ABC, an amazing charity that’s helping so many people. This one’s behind me now… and onto the next!”
My First Marathon at 54
Srini
For Srini, Berlin was deeply personal. Running his very first marathon at the age of 54, he dedicated every step to his late mother.
“This marathon was personal. I ran for my Amma, who gave cancer one of the bravest fights until the end. Berlin was brutal 27°C heat and a 10:40 start made it one of the toughest races I’ve ever done.
“There were plenty of times I thought about giving up … but I pushed through and crossed the line in 4:17:26.
“Running it in memory of my mum and for Against Breast Cancer was an emotional experience I’ll always carry with me.”
An Unforgettable Experience
Sambandam
For Sambandam, Berlin wasn’t about the clock but about what the race represented.
“Running Berlin wasn’t just about the kilometres or the finish time. It was about resilience, memory, and community.
“Each of us carried something bigger than ourselves across that finish line, and that’s what made the experience so powerful. Berlin 2025 wasn’t easy, but it was unforgettable.”
Running with Gratitude
Claudia
Claudia was so thankful to be part of Berlin 2025.
“It was such an honour to run the Berlin Marathon and fundraise for Against Breast Cancer.
I’m so grateful to be able to run for those who can’t, and I feel so blessed to run for such a great cause as well!”
Pushing Through for a Purpose
Alexa
For Alexa, she was so grateful to have had the opportunity to run the Berlin Marathon for Against Breast Cancer.
“I am so proud to have raised almost £1,500 for such an amazing cause which is close to my heart.
It was a tough race due to the heat but thinking of the cause I was running for definitely got me through some of the hardest moments. I hope to run another marathon for ABC in the future!”
Completing the 6 Star Journey
Mark
It was a very hot day for the marathon, but determination carried the miles for Mark.
“A superb and special day at the Berlin Marathon. Very happy to be raising funds for ABC. It was third time lucky to be at Berlin as the previous two years I had to defer my place due to injury and family illness.
“It was so good to have my parents there, with my mum being a breast cancer survivor and the reason for choosing ABC as my charity partner.
“The race was a tough one given the unseasonably hot and humid conditions but after adjusting expectations in the first 10km I got the job done. It was also a special day as it was the race that completed my 6 Star Marathon Major journey!”
A Shared Message of Hope
Timi
For Timi at the Berlin Marathon 2025, “every stride was a stand against breast cancer proving that together, we can turn endurance into hope and miles into change.”
Running the Berlin Marathon was not just about finishing 42 kilometres, but about uniting every stride with countless others in the fight against breast cancer.
Together, we prove that hope, strength, and solidarity can go further than any finish line.”
Berlin Marathon 2025 will be remembered not just for soaring temperatures and a gruelling course, but for the resilience and determination of every runner who represented Against Breast Cancer. Each story shared is proof that this marathon was more than a race, it was a movement of memory and hope.
Together, our team raised a phenomenal amount for Against Breast Cancer research, carrying with them the names, stories, and strength of those affected by breast cancer. Every mile run and every pound raised brings us closer to a future free from this disease.
To all our runners – thank you for your hard work in training and fundraising. Berlin 2025 was unforgettable and the impact you’ve made will last far beyond the finish line.
