This year has been one of headline making progress for our research team at the University of Southampton.
Professor Skipp and his colleagues, working on our 5-year ABC Discover project, have successfully created a simple blood test capable of accurately detecting the 12 most common forms of cancer in the UK.
The test, named miONCO has been described as “game-changing” by Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, and is currently being evaluated by the NHS. It could provide doctors with a powerful new tool in the fight against breast cancer and as many as 11 other cancers, offering earlier detection and new hope for patients.
Our latest newsletter, Together, also celebrates the outstanding achievements of our dedicated researchers, many of whom have received awards and recognition for their tireless efforts to create a future free from breast cancer.
